Is true collapse only an accidental thing?

Ruthless capitalism is willing to rip up the deck planks of the steamboat to feed the wall street boiler until all of the fuel is finally used up. Profit is realized on the way up and the way down.

Meanwhile, the Masters of Mankind are straining to maintain empire (and their slo-mo managed collapse) while desperately playing whack-a-mole to suppress new ideas trying to gain ascendance, such as Bernie Sanders' social democracy.

The whole disintegration of the infrastructure and third worldization of America is intentional, so profits can continue to fuel Wall Street by using "austerity" to privatize the commons. This is happening throughout the western world, but most social democracies are more resilient than the US, with its paid-for political system.

End-stage capitalism starts to employ criminal tactics, like directing political stooges in Washington to underfund programs (like the postal service), blame the government, then take it over and deliver worse service for much higher prices.

That's not really the collapse of civilization, it's the collapse of capitalism, because every avenue of profit -- if necessary via denial and fakery of scientific studies -- must be exploited to feed Wall Street until the game's finally up.
Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5813525365834911757.post-9902730991934800272015-05-16T17:48:22.137-05:002015-05-16T17:48:22.137-05:00Another exquisitely descriptive post! I have this sense that we have lived through the golden age of the planet and now are seeing a gradual decline from the peak, and your concrete examples are a great collection of confirmations. Trains, buses, high-speed rail. Fewer drivers = more passengers = more market share for the Apple's little screens. Seems to me a nice marker event for the current Greater Depression (open-ended into the future, BTW) was the Wall Street Too-Big-to-Fail Failure and Federal Government (US taxpayer) bailout back in 2008. Now that the borrowed money is about to lose its effectiveness, we may get another step-down event. Meanwhile, all the events nicely summarized here will continue and get worse, slowly but surely. OCED countries, like the USA, fate runs along the curve of "all liquids" production. When the plateau ends, things could get worse much more rapidly. It's just how the fabric of our modern society was woven.
